Dear Mr. Wright
Believe it or not, I'm actually going to college in the fall. I wanted you to be one of the first to know that I have decided to major in mathematics for my future career, hopefully teaching.
While math has not always been a favorite subject of mine, as you have known, your eleventh grade trigonometry course was one of the most challenging and yet one of the most enjoyable classes I had in high school. You were the one who helped me finally connect math to the real world and its uses. You motivated everyone to work hard until trig became so very easy.
I have applied to Community University. I would be honored if you would be willing to write a letter of recommendation for me. The deadline for my application materials is January fifth.Sincerely
