Letter turning down request for job contacts

As for Acme Trading Company, unfortunately my contact list is years out of date. I made a few calls, and checked the company directory. I just don't know anyone there in a position to hire now. Everyone I knew has moved onto other things.

I have heard good references about Acme Trading, and I know they are expanding in their sales department. And while unfortunately I can't provide you with any good contacts, you can use me as a reference should you decide to contact them. It is possible that a good reference from a former manager might help you get an offer there.
