Welcome letters: Tourist resort small businesses

The welcome letter for a tourist resort is basically an advertisement, with a few added advantages in that you can spell out services and house rules, etc.

Note: Any advertisement of services is covered by advertising, business and consumer law.

The best layout is a simple, easy to find things, like a brochure. Set up your headings according to your needs, but keep everything clear.

When drafting your welcome letter, less is usually better.

Make sure your welcome letter looks good, and says what you need it to say.

The example below is for a tourist Bed and Breakfast backpacker hostel. Note: in some tourist areas, the local Tourism Commission or other body may be able to help you prepare good, high quality, materials.




We're delighted you've come to stay here! Let us show you around the Anywhere District!


Accomodation: Single or double rooms, with internal bathrooms.

Accommodation Rates: $200 a week single rooms, $150 double per person.

Amenities: TV lounge, pool room, swimming pool, tennis court.

Security Storage: Safe keeping facilities for your valuables. Secure locker $20 per week.


Breakfast 6AM to 10AM, price included in accommodation fee, so you don't pay a cent!


Hire car discount: Why pay for separate car rental, when we can do it for you? High Roller car rentals will give you a 10% discount on their normal rates, if you're staying with us!

Anywhere Tours discount: The famous Coach to Anywhere can take you sightseeing all around the district, including the brewery and the renowned Anywhere Lake area. And they'll do it at a discount, just because you're staying with us!

Anywhere Haute Cuisine discount: Anywhere Haute Cuisine is the blue ribbon restaurant par excellence in the state. They're not cheap, but they're great! They're also good people, and they've given all our guests a 5% discount on all their meals!


We've got some very simple, but straightforward, house rules, and these rules must be observed.

  • No disturbance of other guests.
  • No loud noise.
  • No pets (Sorry, but it really doesn't work.)
  • No Visitors after 10PM.

You'll appreciate that we have to care for all our guests, so there are no exceptions to any of these rules.
