Business to business letter concerning change of address

An address is part of the mandatory legal information regarding places of business required by law. A business address must be a physical place.

This also applies to home businesses, for insurance and tax purposes.

If your business moves, or expands and opens new premises elsewhere, it's advisable to notify clients and other parties well in advance.

You must provide:

  • The full new address of the business
  • The date of commencement of trading at that address
  • Date of cessation of trading at any old business address
  • Any new postal address for delivery of business materials

This is very much a matter of keeping your records straight, and your details up to date with your non-client business interests, including your bank, creditors, insurers, and taxation information requirements.

Note: with banks and other business interests, remember to insert account references, tax file numbers, etc.
