Example of Gift Letter

Gift letters are statements informing the recipient of a right to gift monies or other entitlements without repayment. The types of gift letter can vary considerably:

  • Letters denoting funds available
  • Letters stating goods to a certain value may be purchased for no outlay (Similar process to a gift certificate)
  • Specific purpose gifts of money to purchase a given thing, like property
  • A gift of money stating there's no need to repay.
  • A gift of money providing funds for a down payment on property.

Examples of Gift Letters:

Aunt Alice in Los Angeles sends her niece in New York a letter saying she can have $10,000 for deposit on a house, with no obligation to repay.
