'Omnivore' means literally 'Eats everything'. Most omnivorous creatures actually eat a relatively limited range of foods, but they do eat a large variety. Omnivorous behavior is believed to be an evolutionary survival advantage, and there are cases of carnivores evolving to eat termites, and ducks eating decayed meat. Environmental factors are believed to be the main factors behind these adaptions. |
Examples of Omnivores:
Bears eat meat, nuts, and various forms of herb. Rats eat practically anything, but prefer higher protein sources. Humans are highly omnivorous, eating meat, legumes, green vegetables, grasses like wheat, barley and rye, tubers, and in fact practically anything not actually poisonous. https://www.qrg.northwestern.edu/projects/marssim/simhtml/info/whats-an-omnivore.html https://www.mesa.edu.au/friends/seashores/omnivores.html https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omnivore |
