The lever is one of the basic mechanical principles, which has translated into common expression. The concept is based on use of leverage to move mass. The lever is also more efficient than lifting mass, and requires less effort. The grammatical usage is based on this idea, but refers also to the concept of being in a position to influence a situation. Recently, 'leverage' has taken on another meaning, referring to business credit and debt. |
