Example of Socialism

Socialism was developed in the 19th century as a concept opposed to capitalism. Socialism is predicated on common ownership by the people of the assets of a state. The guiding principle is that this is a fairer distribution of wealth, and provides for the needs of the population. Theoretically, this approach is supposed to guarantee the prosperity of the people. Socialist states operate "command economies" in which economic management is controlled by government.
