Humanism is a broad conceptual platform which bases its values on human need and aspirations. It's similar to a moral philosophy, using human values as shared ideals in the sense that given values like the rights of liberty and free speech are human entitlements. Humanism is by nature progressive. As a current concept, humanism regularly develops and upgrades the desired state of the human being over time. Where free speech and voting rights were the big issues of the past, modern humanism now states 'Education is a right, not a privilege'. This is the traditional role of humanism, demanding improvement and justice for the species as a whole. |
