Example of Oversimplification

Oversimplification means understating the complexity of a situation. The statement is inaccurate, because it doesn't include enough detail, or inadequate, because it doesn't properly explain the subject. Oversimplification is misleading by definition, in any context. This is different from 'dumbing down', which is simplification to the point of insult, but not necessarily inaccurate.

Examples of Oversimplification:

A phone is something you yell into so you can communicate.
A road is used to go places.
Reality TV is used to give people somewhere to live.
Eating is putting food into your face.
Every word means exactly what it says.
Celebrities are all very important people.
