Oversimplification means understating the complexity of a situation. The statement is inaccurate, because it doesn't include enough detail, or inadequate, because it doesn't properly explain the subject. Oversimplification is misleading by definition, in any context. This is different from 'dumbing down', which is simplification to the point of insult, but not necessarily inaccurate. |
