A timeline is a chronological list of events, setting out events related to a specific subject. Timelines are used to 'map' a subject's history. This is common in books about historical individuals or groups. The primary function of timelines is as simplified historical information concerning people, places and events of note relevant to the subject matter. They also act as reference points to for historical dates and are sometimes used as references to collate historical events. |
