Slander is a false statement which injures the reputation of the person(s) to whom it refers. In common usage it also refers to a deliberately false, malicious statement made with the intention of doing injury to the subject. A slanderous statement may refer to any characteristic or action of the subject. Slander is considered defamation in legal terms, for which the affected person may sue for damages.
Examples of Slander:
|Basic: Someone is said to be a convicted criminal, when not.|
Malicious: Someone is said to have a social disease, and doesn't.
Legal: A person is accused of professional misdemeanors when innocent.
