Slander is a false statement which injures the reputation of the person(s) to whom it refers. In common usage it also refers to a deliberately false, malicious statement made with the intention of doing injury to the subject. A slanderous statement may refer to any characteristic or action of the subject. Slander is considered defamation in legal terms, for which the affected person may sue for damages. |
