There are two GMAT essays which forms the Analytical Writing Assessment component of the GMAT test. One essay is on analyisis argument and the other on analysis of an issue. These essays are usually read by two human readers and one computer reader, which analyzes use of language and essay structures. Results for these essays are graded on a bandwidth of 0-6, with 0 as illegible/unreadable and 6 as outstanding. Grading is done on an incremental scale, with averaging as a basal method of calculation. A third reader may be used to settle grading differentials to produce a score.
