An old English school slang expression used to describe intensive study. Also used to describe a person who is academically good, although the expression isn't necessarily a compliment. The negative meaning is a person who's insufferable about their schoolwork. As a general verb outside a school reference, it means doing studies, or having to improve one's performance by study. |
