Main activities and responsibilities  I work closely with young adults who are suffering from drug abuse or other substance abuse problems, providing psychological support and advice. I offer counsel patients in order to assist them in overcoming their dependencies and enable them to readjust to life and the changes of drug free living. My primary responsibility is to be someone that patients can call or meet with and talk to when they need extra support or reassurance. It is also my responsibility to make a judgement call and alert the hospital or police if I feel the patient is using drugs again or close to slipping from the rehabilitation schedule. With each patient, I develop a caring and trusting relationship and offer support until the patient and doctors agree they no longer need hospital assistance.
