Example of Urbanization

Urbanization refers to the process of land being taken up by the development of urban areas. The spread of major cities has been endemic since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, and is now a global phenomenon. Urbanization has also resulted in their use of land which was previously used for other purposes being devoted to large-scale residential and industrial land use.

Examples of Urbanization:

The spread of London from the Tudor period onwards is probably the best known example in the Western world of urban encroachment. In Asia, Beijing, Tokyo, Shanghai, and even Hanoi have grown so fast that completely disrupted former land use.
