Examples of Sliding Friction

Measurement of friction is based on the 'coefficient of friction', which is a ratio of forces related to the two surfaces. This ratio is also affected by the nature of surfaces, for example a rough surface will generate higher friction than a smooth surface. The resulting force is generated by the interaction of atoms on the surfaces.
