Example of Rotational Symmetry

Rotational symmetry is a description applied to a shape or object which may be physically rotated through several positions and produce an identical shape or configuration to its original position. The concept of rotational symmetry has uses in graphic art, producing a series of repeated shapes in a sequence for the purpose of animation. The rotational symmetry concept is also often used in mechanical design, creating a regular series of positions for mechanical or electrical configuration.

Examples of Rotational Symmetry:

Graphic art: A diamond or a square will produce identical images if rotated into four specific positions.
Mechanical design: Lawn mower blades
