Letter from parent to child about school problems

Your mother and I are very pleased with your ability to adapt to college life at Community University. We were sure that this school was a good choice when you showed us the information about what you wanted to do with your college education. We are also happy you have become good friends with your roommate and others.
On a more serious line, the University sent a notice to the house which arrived yesterday. It appears that you are in danger of failing more than one course and have been placed on academic probation. This seemed hard to believe for us, since you have always held a good average in school.

It has also been brought to our attention that for you to maintain your academic scholarship you must bring your GPA back to a 3.1 by the end of the semester. As I am sure you are aware, this scholarship is what has allowed us to send you to Community University.
We are worried that you may be having trouble adjusting to college life. Your mother and I also wonder if you are spending too much time socializing instead of studying. This is a very serious position to be in during your first year of college. If you need help you should ask for it. We will do everything possible to help you succeed, but you must put yourself into a position to succeed.
