Letter concerning damage to a borrowed item

I just received the package with the dress you borrowed last month. I appreciate the thank you note and the fact that you had a great time in the Caribbean.

However, I can't believe that you were not aware of the condition of the dress. There is a big red stain on the front. I took it to the cleaners and they said it was probably red wine. They would not guarantee that even with cleaning it will be fit to wear.

I am upset about the dress, but even more that you did not mention it. Our friendship is too important to me to let this put a strain on our relationship. I look forward to hearing from you.
