Urdu is part of the Hindustani language group,and is the official language of Pakistan. It's a version of the Hindi dialect, which has been highly modified by Islamic languages such as Persian, Turkic and Arabic.It's still described as being mutually intelligible with Hindi.Cultural differences include different written forms between Hindi and Urdu. Urdu evolved after the Mogul invasion of India in the 12th century.To complicate matters, English, as one of the common languages of India as a whole, has also influenced both Urdu and Hindi.
