Typography originally meant the process of setting type and arranging it, manually. The word 'typo', meaning typographical error, is derived from it but now means an error in typing, not typesetting. Originally, type was physically assembled and fonts selected on blocks in reverse order, and printed directly on paper. This process has long been superseded, and the word 'typography' now usually relates to text formatting, font management, etc. It's still a very relevant term in printing, despite the new systems.
