Example of Rhyme

A use of words which have similar sounds like 'cat' and 'mat' in a text, lyric or statement. Rhyme was traditionally used as a memory aid, a rhythmic method, using metered lines of consistent length for emphasis, and for the novelty element. Sometimes only part of the rhyming words is similar, like 'absolute' and 'resolute'. In some cases, like doggerel, rhyme may occur throughout a text, as a play on words.

Examples of Rhyme:

Common rhyme: Little Miss Muffet sat on a tuffet.
Doggerel: A dog in a bog sat on a log in a fog to see the smog.
