A resignation letter is a document which voluntarily informs an employer of termination of employment. Under employment law, it has the status of legal notification of termination. The resignation letter is used to denote dates of employment, and establish rights to payments and related compensation. Resignation letters are also used by both employers and employees as evidence of employment status.
