Example of Human Resources Metrics

Human Resources metrics are a series of measures, strategic and targeted to specific areas. These measures are designed to produce information for businesses across a spectrum of Human Resources factors, including:

  • Productivity
  • Absenteeism
  • Health and site issues
  • Efficient hiring practices
  • Performance appraisals
  • Staff turnover (May include reasons for high turnover)
  • Job satisfaction
  • Manager satisfaction

(Note: All these can be expressed in dollar terms, defining real cost and identifying areas for improvement and possible savings options.)

This can be a highly technical process, unfamiliar to some managers. Best practice is to express Human Resources metrics in clear, verifiable terms with support information.

Examples of Human Resources Metrics:

Human Resources cost analyses.
Targeted cost analyses and studies of organizational efficiencies.
Cost-benefit based studies of staffing issues, training and other basic Human Resources issues.
