Gift letters are statements informing the recipient of a right to gift monies or other entitlements without repayment. The types of gift letter can vary considerably:
- Letters denoting funds available
- Letters stating goods to a certain value may be purchased for no outlay (Similar process to a gift certificate)
- Specific purpose gifts of money to purchase a given thing, like property
- A gift of money stating there's no need to repay.
- A gift of money providing funds for a down payment on property.
