Authors have made a point of satirizing almost all of history and most human events and characteristics, providing the world with a perspective on how those experiencing the times actually felt about them. Satire in literature can be social, topical, political, or a combination of all these factors. Satire is usually based on reality, pointing out the absurd or the venal elements in a society.
Examples of Satire in Literature:
|Voltaire: Candide, satire on philosophy, society, and Utopian ideals.|
Dream of the Red Chamber: Chinese social comedy and satire in which every second character is the descendant of a Tang Dynasty poet.
